Features:  

Learn to Speak French is well designed and easy to use. You start by studying the basics, then you can move on to more challenging sections.

Fundamentals:  

Learn to Speak French has a built-in pretest. This pretest will evaluate your current French level and tell you were to begin. Learn to Speak French Deluxe also has progress tests to see how much French know-how you've gained from each lesson.

A useful feature we enjoyed in Learn to Speak French offers are the simulated French conversations. This computer conversation practice will help you build confidence since you can test your conversation skills in a patient setting.

You can create multiple accounts in Learn to Speak French Deluxe so that each member of your family can use the software even if they are at different stages of learning.

Ease of Use:  

Learn to Speak French Deluxe installation was simple except for the speech recognition portion—the program crashed on each attempt, and often crashed the entire computer.

Teaching Tools:  

The help and documentation sections of Learn to Speak French Deluxe are excellent. There are audio instructions that offer details on the different parts of the program as well as a helpful reference book. We had no trouble finding features and tools.

Word Tools:  

This French learning program teaches the fundamentals well. We felt that the reading comprehension and conversation practice were exceptional. Learn to Speak French Deluxe should offer more French pronunciation assistance, however. We felt the program should offer students more constructive, specific criticism for pronouncing each French word.

Tech Support/Help:  

Learn to Speak French Deluxe includes useful grammar tools that will help you increase your French comprehension. The writing and speech recognition could use improvement, however.

Learn to Speak French Deluxe is a fine choice for beginning and advanced French learners; this program teaches the fundamentals of language acquisition and offers several options so you'll always have a variety.
