- How the program works: 3 CDRoms are available to help you progress through the three levels — Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. You will work on seven interviews at the beginner level and six interviews at the intermediate and advanced levels. The subjects are varied and you will develop a wide range of vocabulary.
-
How the lessons are organized: The lessons are organized interactively so that you can pause or rewind at any time. However, we think the best way to go through the lesson is without stopping. What you miss is missed, just like in any real conversation. You will have plenty of opportunities to get it all right later.

At any level and at any time you can watch the video and read the translation before you work on the interview you have chosen. After a few lessons done like this, you might want to follow our suggestion and resist the temptation to read the translation and even view the video prior to starting the lesson. It's the best way to effectively learn the language.

The reason for this is that our memory works best when our senses work separately. We start with one and we add the others, one at a time. Each of us has a sense that is more responsive than the others — We can be talented in drawing but cannot sing a note.
-
Realistic expectations: We suggest that you work three to four times on each interview during a one week period before you move on. After the last interview you should be able to advance to the next level. By the end of the advanced level, and assume you have followed our suggested approach, we believe that you will have no fear getting into a conversation in French. You will be listening to the conversation "as a whole" rather than as separate words. You will have a good grasp of the French language and at how it is put together. As for "sounding French", take note also that seventy-five percent of the accent comes from the absence of contractions or the wrong use of them.
